G\u00e9nesis was a participant of our initiative <a href=\"https:\/\/justiceandpeace.nl\/initiatieven\/shelter-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shelter City<\/a>,\u00a0a global movement of safe spaces to support human rights defenders at risk. Her temporary stay in Shelter City Rotterdam provided her with with a safe environment to continue her work, rest and re-energise, and strengthen her capacities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"o-video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Standing up for justice in Venezuela | Story with human rights defender, G\u00e9nesis D\u00e1vila\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cVaAkIgFrck?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>This film, created by a team of talented filmmakers from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mamedia.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mamedia<\/a>, follows the story of G\u00e9nesis D\u00e1vila, a trained lawyer, founder of organisation\u00a0Defiende Venezuela, and human rights defender. In this short documentary, G\u00e9nesis sheds light on the everyday situation that many Venezuelans living in the country face today, provides insight into her work as a human rig<span class=\"text_exposed_show\">hts defender, and shares how others can take action and show solidarity.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"text_exposed_show\">\n<p>This film was created by filmmakers Yannick Jason, Nazli Ulucan, and Kai van Leeuwen from\u00a0Mamedia\u00a0(part of the\u00a0Mediacollege Amsterdam).
