We are honoured to present to you Becoming Atoq<\/em><\/a>, an online photographic journey where you follow the story of Atoq, a Peruvian human rights defender, photojournalist, and artist. Atoq was a Shelter City guest in 2021, where he spent three months in The Hague to rest and recuperate. Together with storyteller\u00a0Connor McMullen<\/a> and Atoq, we developed this interactive story to bring to light the challenges that journalists and human rights defenders face in Peru.<\/p>\n

We thank Atoq for sharing his story, to his family, Connor, Atoq\u2019s fellow photographers, and all those that contributed. This story was dedicated to his late sister, Roxabel Ram\u00f3n Huaroto.<\/p>\n
