November 29 is International Women Human Rights Defenders Day. On this day, we pay tribute to courageous women from all over the world, who are at the forefront of the collective struggle for the protection and advancement of human rights. Kiruba, fighting caste cruelties in India<\/h2>\n

Kiruba Munusamy is the first Dalit woman lawyer from her state of Tamil Nadu to practice law at the Indian Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

‘The constitution says that equality prevails. Social laws say that inequality and the caste system prevail. The way courts deal with honour killing is a good example that something\u2019s off here. Louisa Ono Eikhomun is a women’s rights defender from Nigeria, who dedicates her work to ending violence against women.<\/p>\n
