Fundraising Officer

Justice & Peace is a human rights NGO based in The Hague that has been working to promote respect for human rights, in the Netherlands and internationally, for over 55 years. We believe in innovation and through our project and initiatives, such as Shelter City and Samen Hier, we create new ways to effectively address these challenges, ensure positive change, achieve long-term sustainability and create reel impact.

Per 1 september 2024, we are looking for a:

Fundraising Officer
32-36 hours

You will work within Justice & Peace’s small, creative fundraising and communications team. Together with colleagues, you will bring the fundraising and communication plans to life in applications, campaigns and events – both online and offline. You are an excellent team player, able to work independently and systematically at the same time and able to withstand a high workload in a dynamic and diverse environment.

What will you do:

  • You will contribute to the development of the fundraising strategy;
  • You are responsible for implementing the fundraising strategy, including building contacts with donors, writing funding applications and maintaining donor relationships;
  • You inform programme teams to ensure donor compliance;
  • You will research fundraising opportunities, bottlenecks and developments;
  • You work with the team to implement fundraising campaigns;
  • You analyse data and translate conclusions into actions to enhance fundraising results;
  • You will support the monitoring and evaluation of fundraising by contributing to reports, presenting interim findings to the team, providing recommendations for improvement and overseeing improvement actions.

What is your profile?

  • You have at least 2 years working experience as fundraiser or in another relevant NGO position;
  • You have knowledge of project cycles, including setting up, structuring and scaling up projects;
  • You have an eye for cultural sensitivity and work from a human rights approach;
  • You have strong and analytical thinking skills and excellent research and writing skills, with sound knowledge of human rights and social issues;
  • You have strong organisational and communication skills and can deal with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • You are proactive: you enjoy transforming complex messages into understandable and convincing proposals and take the initiative yourself;
  • You are flexible, can work independently, and are not afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
  • Excellent proficiency in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of Dutch is considered a strong asset;
  • Experience with individual donors is an asset.
  • Enthusiastic, creative, proactive and connecting.
